Privacy Policy
Effective September 9, 2026.
ApproachAI is operated by Chak Kwan Lai. This policy describes the released app's recording, local analysis, purchases, and deletion behavior.
Videos and Local Storage
ApproachAI records muted video using your camera. Recordings are initially written to the app's temporary camera storage. When you save a jump, the app copies its video into its private document storage and saves jump records in a local SQLite database. Records include dates, video references, trim points, confirmed takeoff and landing times, and computed metrics and flags. Thumbnails and intermediate images may be created in the app's cache.
ApproachAI does not upload your recordings, thumbnails, pose keypoints, or jump metrics to a coaching service. Version 1 does not provide third-party generative coaching. Previously cached coaching, if present from an earlier installation, is not displayed and is removed with jump-data deletion.
Saved recordings remain until you delete them, remove the app's data, or the configured saved-video limit removes older jumps. Trimming changes the analyzed interval; it does not cut or replace the original saved video. Temporary recordings and images can remain after an interruption or failed cleanup. The app cleans old camera cache files at startup and includes its camera and image caches in Delete All Jump Data.
Pose Analysis and Model Downloads
Pose estimation and jump-metric calculations run on your device. The app downloads the MoveNet model from Google's model hosting service when needed and reuses a successfully loaded model within that app session. A first analysis in a session may require internet access. Downloading model files does not upload your video or jump measurements. Like other internet requests, model downloads expose connection information, such as your IP address, to the hosting service.
Raw pose keypoints are processed in memory rather than separately saved as a user profile. The app saves derived metrics and confirmation times. It does not create an identity-recognition profile. Measurements are estimates and can be affected by recording conditions and pose-detection errors.
Purchases and Network Activity
ApproachAI uses Apple's purchase system and RevenueCat to load subscription products, process purchase and restore requests, and determine access to paid features. RevenueCat may communicate when the app starts or checks access, including before you purchase. Purchase-related data, an app user identifier (anonymous when no login is used), and device/app information are processed to provide this functionality. Apple processes payments; the app does not collect payment-card details.
Apple and RevenueCat control retention and handling within their services. See Apple's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy. Opening external support or policy links also connects to the selected website. The app has no account sign-up, advertising SDK, or tracking-permission flow.
Device Protection and Backups
Files are stored inside the app sandbox. The iOS app is configured to use iOS Data Protection; this is operating-system protection, not a separate custom encryption system implemented by ApproachAI. Protection depends on the device and its security state. The app does not explicitly exclude saved documents from device backups, so saved videos and the database may be included according to your Apple/device backup settings. Cache files are temporary and may be removed by the operating system.
Deleting Jump Data
You can delete saved jumps individually. Settings also offers Delete All Jump Data, which removes jump records, saved videos, temporary camera recordings, and generated images in the app's owned storage directories. It includes leftover files even when their jump records are already gone. It also clears stored metrics, confirmation data, and cached coaching associated with those records.
The app prevents bulk deletion while content-producing work is active. If cleanup is incomplete, it reports that fact. You can safely retry the same action, including after reopening the app; the app checks the owned storage directories again even when the jump list is empty. Complete deletion is reported only after those cleanup operations succeed.
General preferences, analysis-limit bookkeeping, and your subscription are not reset. Deletion does not cancel a subscription or remove information held by Apple, RevenueCat, model-hosting services, or existing device backups. Manage subscriptions and backups through the relevant Apple/device settings. This feature removes content from managed app storage; it is not a guarantee of forensic erasure from flash storage or backups.
Children
ApproachAI is intended for users age 13 and older. The app has no account system or technical age verification. Parents or guardians can contact the developer with privacy questions.
